Description

The AIRAID Cold Air Dam (CAD) Air Intake is engineered to give your engine larger amounts of cooler air to produce more horsepower and torque. The intake system retains the original location of the air filter but delivers a big boost with the addition of a huge open-element air inlet protected by Cold Air Dam panels that help to provide a steady, free-flowing supply of cooler outside air into your engine. The panels mount in the factory air box location and utilize any factory cold air inlet ducts that are present, while adding additional cold air passages to the filter. The panels also keep the filter isolated from the hot engine compartment air by sealing to the underside of the hood via blade-style weather stripping. This CAD system utilizes a replacement low-restriction intake tube. The 360-degree conical AIRAID premium air filter is washable and reusable, less restrictive than traditional paper, and assures superior filtration. The AIRAID Cold Air Dam Air Intake is easy to install with common hand tools. Some AIRAID air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards, while others are 50 state legal. I live in denver & I did alot of research on the JK forums and most said don't waste your money as 3.8 engine just doesn't respond...Unless you have a Tuner(I have a SC flashpaq, 93 octane tune) and exhaust( I have the MBRP high clearance). So I decided for $215 why not. The seat o pants dyno (take it with a grain of salt) feels mild/moderately better at tip in than the drop in K&N that was in the stock air box. The real difference starts coming in around the 3k rpm mark you can start to feel quite a difference in pull, the jeep now feels to have a respectable sense of urgency. Sound levels are good for the intake it is slightly drowned out by my exhaust choice. If you have a tuner and/or exhaust or are eventually going to get them don't be discouraged by the forum naysayers this intake will make a difference, just have a reasonable expectation. Fit & finish for the kit are very good. Fit in the 07-11 jk is snug and takes a bit of finesse. If you have hand tools install should take 30-45 mins, if you have a cordless drill and the right sockets 30 mins or less.Oiled gauze air filter..........gee, that sounds familiar. Not completely terrible to install, but the hardest cold air kit I've done so far out of 4 vehicles. Pictures in instructions could be better. Not sure why Airaid decided not to re-use the factory plastic nib/grommet retention system for the air dam, could've saved 5-10 mins on install time, and the bracket to the radiator support seems like overkill. Here's a few tips...... the rubber "hump' connector barely fits on the plastic intake tube, but slips on the throttle body no sweat, so work the hump onto the plastic tube before you get it anywhere near under the hood. Also, the band clamps are barely large enough, you have to back the screws out all the way to get them on the hump. And forget about tightening the bolts that go down thru the air dam until you have the intake tube on the throttle body and in the air dam...... the instructions say to tighten down the bolts, then work on sticking the tube through, but you have to bend the air dam to get the intake tube into it when it's bolted down solid...... Also, the air filter barely fits into the air dam, would go alot easier if it was just 1" shorter, takes alot of force to cram it in and get it onto the intake tube. All in all, a decent kit, but instructions could be revised a bit. Will take a bit to figure if mileage improves, but can already feel a difference in low to mid-range acceleration...... and flooring it makes it honk like a flock of geese!I installed this in my 2009 2 door Jeep Wrangler JK and it took about 45 minutes with simple tools and a limited knowledge of automotive mechanics. The instructions are complete and detailed. I can feel a definite improvement in torque and the usual sluggishness of the 3.8 L V6 stock engine is cured! I finally have the "pick up" and power needed to climb those hills when the vehicle is loaded, that I presume Jeep sought to cure with the new 3.6 L V6 Pentastar engine they adopted for Wranglers since 2012. My gas milage has improved from 18 to 21 miles per gallon combined city/highway so eventually the investment will pay for itself. The acoustics are great with a subtle increase in "growl" when you accelerate but no "uncivilized" loud noise on idle or normal acceleration so no pretense there. Lets face it, the JK is no muscle car and has no business sounding like one but it can certainly sound better than a minivan.I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X (4 door) with about 69,000 miles, and was looking to improve my gas mileage after going to a 285/70/17 tire. I did a ton of research and finally decided on the Airaid 310-208. I was down around the 11-12 mpg range in city, and 15 mpg freeway at best. I installed this intake, and had some pretty dramatic changes in my gas mileage. I jumped to about 15-16 mpg city, and about 19 mpg freeway. That isn't the only difference I noticed though. If you are a Jeep owner you have probably experience the "slow down up the overpass" on the freeway, and the trouble maintaining 75 mph. This product did not eliminate the problem all together, but it did make it A LOT better! I will tell everyone I know that this is an excellent product, and it will pay for itself very quickly.I have just installed the intake today and have only driven my 2010 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited about 5 miles since installing the parts. As far as the install went it took about 30-45 minutes and it fit fairly well. I noticed the increase in power and throttle response immediately. Which if you have driven a jeep with the 3.8L V6 then you know the added power is much needed. I am looking forward to seeing how my gas milage improves and will write another review in a few weeks after I have put some more miles put on the jeep. Depending on how my MPG improves will determine if i rate this intake 5 starsI installed this along with an Airaid throttle body spacer in my 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited about 6 weeks ago. It took less than an hour to do all of it and was pretty easy. The fit was a little tight but I don't think it would have been if I hadn't put in the throttle body spacer also. It's got a great sound but not obnoxious. The improvement in power and torque is incredible! I've got a 6 speed manual and I am having to shift down much less than before when passing and going up hills. I think I am seeing an improvement in gas mileage but it's hard to tell for sure as I have been driving much fewer highway miles since I installed and it's tough to stay out of the throttle. This thing sounds awesome, easy to put on and improves power. I saw a slight mpg increase but nothing to write home about. I would recommend this and the throttle bottle spacer from airaid. I put these (CAI and TBS) on my 2010 JKU and it sounded great and added power. Then I wasn't satisfied so I added a Gibson dual exhaust and my Jeep is now an amazing beast. It sounds great and performs way better. This is a good setup for someone who is underwhelmed by their 3.8L and big tires coupled with a lift.
